This is wrong too. Both of these perspectives are really the same. They both revolve around the mistaken notion that the world revolves around us and what we do. No, no, no. We gotta get out of this mindset.
Put your fairy tale mindset on and you will be able to see (yes, you read that right). All of us, good and bad, believers, athiests, agnostics, people of other religions, are in the same world. It is the world of a dark and scary filled with lots of unknown, magical stuff enchanted forest. Yes, an enchanted forest. It is filled with malevolent forces. It is filled with things that can make it look glittery and will hypnotize us to eat the magic mushrooms and fall asleep in it or lull us into thinking it is something it isn't. Bad things and good things happen to everyone in this forest. The difference for the Believer is that we know when the bad things happen that Father God will help us with them. When the evil forces throw things at us, Father God will be able to turn those situations around so His light will shine. Without Him the darkness and the evil deeds can consume a person.
But we gotta give the Father time to act. If we try to fix it ourselves in a panic, we will mess it up. We have to take a breath and plug into God and His wisdom and He will guide us through the bad parts so when we get past them we won't be depleted of strength but will be renewed. That is miraculous!
Often we Believers don't allow God to do this. We stumble through the bad parts. We might even resent God cause we wonder why He let this bad thing happen. We do this because we have that wrong perspective about being the center of our worlds. In a dark, enchanted forest bad things happen to everybody. And this is our world.
Of course the world we inhabit doesn't look like an enchanted forest (remember, it is enchanted). It looks ordinary. Don't let it fool you. The real dark forest is the unseen realm. This is what we are walking through without realizing it.
Be happy and joyful and enjoy life. At the same time know that bad things will happen. This is life. But God will get you through to an even better place afterwards if you let Him. These are the situations He really shines in because the dark forces are caught off guard (Ahhh! We are foiled again).
